Intended Use

The system is a comprehensive set of products designed for smoke and heat extraction from staircases, enhancing conditions for fire extinguishing and rescue operations. It increases the safety of individuals and facilitates conditional evacuation. The primary function of the system is to generate a forced flow of air and smoke in the staircase, allowing for efficient smoke extraction and preventing smoke from descending below the floor where the fire originated. The flow of air and smoke through the extraction device is continuously monitored, with the amount of compensation air adjusted based on the actual flow. Additionally, the system can ventilate the staircase.

Operating Rule

The system can be activated automatically by smoke and heat detectors or manually via smoke extraction push buttons or signals from the Fire Alarm System (FAS).

Upon smoke detection, the smoke and heat vent, located in the roof or upper part of the staircase, or the wall smoke and heat vent, opens, and the compensation air supply is activated with variable efficiency.

An optional acoustic/optical signalling device may be activated to indicate fire hazard. If the building is equipped with electric door holders, they will be released, allowing the doors that separate fire zones to close.

The system monitors the speed of gases flowing through the smoke extraction device and continuously adjusts the supply of compensation air fed to the staircase. This variable forced flow effectively removes the smoke and air mixture from the staircase, preventing smoke from descending below the floor on fire. A compensation fan, controlled by an inverter, increases efficiency when doors are opened during evacuation and decreases efficiency when smoke forces raise the pressure excessively in the staircase.
