Description

Apollo Intelligent Open‑Area Sounder (Red) – 55000‑001APO

XP95 & Discovery Compatible Loop‑Powered Fire Alarm Sounder

The Apollo Intelligent Open‑Area Sounder (55000‑001APO) is designed for use in open areas where clear, reliable audible warning is essential. Fully compatible with Apollo XP95, Discovery, and CoreProtocol systems, this loop‑powered device delivers high performance without the need for an external power supply.

Ideal for commercial and industrial fire alarm installations, the sounder provides synchronised operation, flexible addressing, and efficient loop‑powered performance.

Key Features

  • Compatible with Apollo XP95, Discovery & CoreProtocol
  • High sound output of 100dB(A)
  • Loop‑powered – no external power supply required
  • Individual and group addressing capability
  • Synchronised operation via control panel
  • Simple DIL switch addressing
  • Designed for open‑area applications
  • Red housing for clear fire alarm identification

Electrical Specifications

  • Operating Voltage: 17–28V DC
  • Loop Powered: Yes
  • Polarity Sensitive: Yes
  • Current Consumption:
    • 5mA (Sounder)
    • 8mA (Sounder Beacon variant)
  • Sound Output: Nominal 100dB(A)

Many control panels can typically support up to:

  • 20 sounders per loop
  • 15 sounder beacons per loop

Note: The maximum number of devices per loop should always be confirmed using the Apollo Loop Calculator.

Operation & Performance

The Intelligent Open‑Area Sounder is designed for environments where multiple alarm devices may be audible within the same space. For this reason, all connected sounders can be synchronised directly from the control panel to ensure uniform alarm signalling throughout the building.

The device offers the same functional flexibility as Apollo Sounder Control Units (55000‑582 and 55000‑182 DIN‑rail version), allowing both individual and group control options.

Device Addressing

Addressing is configured using a DIL switch system:

  • Individual Address Range: 1–126
  • Group Address Range: 112–126 (selected via 4‑segment DIL switch)
  • Devices using group addressing must have an individual address between 1–111
  • If incorrectly addressed, a fault value of 4 will be transmitted

This flexible addressing system enables multiple sounders to be controlled simultaneously while maintaining individual device monitoring.

Mechanical Construction

The unit features a dedicated base for secure mounting and first‑fix wiring, simplifying installation and maintenance in open‑area applications.

Compatibility & System Requirements

  • Compatible with control equipment using Apollo protocols only
  • Full feature set available when connected to control panels with appropriate supporting software
  • Backward compatible with XP95 and Discovery systems

Applications

  • Commercial buildings
  • Warehouses
  • Offices
  • Retail spaces
  • Industrial environments
  • Large open‑area fire alarm installations
