Description
The Paxton Switch2 Access Control Controller is a reliable single-door control unit designed for small to medium-sized access systems. Supporting up to 50 keypad codes or 10,000 card users, it allows flexible access management across multiple doors using the same tokens.
This unit works seamlessly with PROXIMITY, CARDLOCK, and TOUCHLOCK readers, offering versatile authentication methods including card, PIN, or a combination of both. Two readers can be connected to a single unit to enable read-in and read-out control, ensuring enhanced site security.
Installation
The Switch2 controller is easy to install, with a clearly labelled interface showing connections for readers, locks, power supply, and door contacts. Its voltage-free relay output enables control of locks or other electrical devices. When used with door contacts, the system can also generate a door forced alarm for added security. Setup with PROXIMITY and CARDLOCK readers is simple using enrolment cards, while TOUCHLOCK operation is managed via the master code.
Operation
Switch2 offers flexible operation modes depending on the reader type:
- PROXIMITY & CARDLOCK – User tokens are activated after installation. Shadow cards allow easy invalidation of lost or barred tokens.
- TOUCHLOCK – Access is granted with valid codes. Codes are updated using the keypad and master code.
- PROXIMITY KP Keypad – Options include card + code, card + PIN, card only, or code only.
This versatile design makes the Switch2 controller a cost-effective solution for secure single-door access control.
