About

The Paxton Net2 Plus 682-531 is a networked single-door access control unit, designed for easy integration into new or existing security infrastructures. Net2 provides the benefits of centralised control, real-time event reporting, and flexible user access management. Each control unit operates independently while remaining fully networkable, ensuring reliability and scalability.

The Net2 Plus controller connects to the administration PC via a standard TCP/IP Ethernet network using an RJ45 connection. It also supports RS485 daisy-chaining with other Net2 Plus or Net2 Classic units, removing the need for an additional TCP/IP to RS485 converter. Available with or without PSU in both metal and plastic cabinet options, this model includes a 12V 2A PSU housed in a plastic cabinet.

Installation

The Net2 Plus controller is designed for straightforward installation.

• A colour-coded connection label clearly identifies terminals for readers, PSU, locks, and accessories.
• The built-in voltage-free relay allows switching of any compatible lock or electrical device.
• Connections are provided for exit buttons, door contacts, tamper switches, and alarm devices.
• Controllers should be assigned a fixed/static IP address for reliable communication.
• Diagnostic LEDs are placed near terminals to simplify troubleshooting.
• Integrated end-of-line resistors eliminate the need for external components.

Operation

Once installed, the unit communicates directly with the PC using TCP/IP. Any updates or changes made in the Net2 software are instantly transmitted and stored at the controller. When a user presents their token, the controller verifies credentials and grants or denies access as configured. This ensures real-time access management while allowing the controller to function independently in case of network interruptions.
