The Paxton 242-166 Switch2 Controller is a secure and reliable single door access control unit, supplied in a durable white plastic housing with a built-in 12V 1A power supply. Designed for flexibility, Switch2 supports card plus PIN functionality and can manage up to 10,000 card users or 50 codes, making it ideal for high-security applications.

About – The Switch2 control unit stores user access permissions and is mounted inside the building for enhanced security. Compatible with PROXIMITY, CARDLOCK, or TOUCHLOCK readers, it can be networked across multiple doors on-site, all using the same tokens. Two readers can be connected to a single unit for read-in and read-out access.

Installation – The 242-166 Switch2 is simple to install, with a clear label showing connections for readers, locks, power supply, and door contacts. It includes a voltage-free relay output for switching locks or other devices. When connected with door contacts, it can also trigger a door-forced alarm. Once readers are connected, enrolment is straightforward by presenting the supplied enrolment card, instantly validating all tokens in the pack. TOUCHLOCK installation is completed via the keypad using the master code.

Operation – Switch2 offers flexible operation modes depending on the reader type:

• PROXIMITY & CARDLOCK: Tokens are active immediately post-installation. Each token has a shadow card for quick and secure invalidation if lost or barred. Function card packs allow advanced features such as zoning by token colour.
• TOUCHLOCK: Valid codes grant access, with setup and changes managed via the keypad and master code.
• PROXIMITY KP Keypad: Offers multiple configurations including card + code, card + PIN, card only, or code only for maximum versatility.
